Lam Pao Dam is the large dam with 1,430 MCM storage capacity to serve for 314,000 rai (125,600 Acres) of irrigation area located in Kalasin Province, northeastern region of Thailand. The 5,960 km2 of catchments area create huge average inflow of about 1,900 MCM/Yr. which is more than storage capacity 470 MCM causing flooding problem at bottom area especially in rainy season.
Considering the physical potential of dam (height of dam crest) and potential of inflow including reducing the flooding problem, Feasibility Study of Lam Pao Dam Improvement for increasing storage capacity have been performed made and for the additional water storage can be used in dry season as by product.
The main constituents of Dam Improvement consist of :
-Improvement of Dam Embankment by using Plastic Concrete Cut-off Wall Technique.
-Construction of new Gated Spillway to releases the Peak out flow 2,216 cms.
-Construction of others constituents such as road, bridge, rip-rap, etc.
-Study improvement of irrigation system for higher efficiency.
The Consultants carried out the feasibility study works as follows:
•Hydrology study
•Hydraulic study
•Dam improvement study
•Irrigation Potential and water demand
•Topographic survey
•Geology and construction material study
•Agricultural study
•Socio-Economic/Organization study
•Soil and land use study
•Initial Environmental Evaluation (IEE)
•GIS system of Project
•Proceed public relation and participation
