The Airport of Thailand Plc (AOT) proposed the EIA report of Chiang Mai Airport Development regarding on runway expansion in the north side for 300 m (total 3,400 m) to the National Environmental Board and the EIA study was already approved. According to the EIA report, AOT have to follow the Environmental Protection Measures to mitigate the environmenatl impacts both in construction and operation period. Thus, a company named "South East Asia Technology or SEATEC" was hired to monitor the Environmental Quality in fiscal year 2006 which is the year of construction period. The puopose of the study as follows:
1)To inspect and monitor the EPMs implementation during the construction period
2)To inspect and monitor the environmental quality regarding surface water quality, discharge water quality from wastewater treatment system, air quality, noise level, vibration and socio-economic
3)To survey the noise impact from the airport in the areas NEF 30-40 and NEF 40
4)To control the environment in the airport and surrounding areas
