Environmental Impact Assessment of Khlong Tha Thon Irrigation Project

Narrative Description

The Ta Thon Dam project in Nakorn Sri Thammarat province falls under the Water Resources Development Projects of the Southern Seaboard.  The objective of this project is to construct a dam in Amphoe Sichon and to supply water to the port on the east coast via a conveyance pipe, as well as to an irrigation area of 16,000 rai.  The proposed reservoir has a storage capacity of 17.89 million cubic meters and the dam has a maximum height of 40 meters.  Construction cost approximately 628 million baht. This proposed development has significant implications for the environmental and thus requires an environmental impact assessment prior to implementation.  The Royal Irrigation Department retained the Creative Technology Co.
