Airports of Thailand (Public) Co. Ltd. (AOT) let to prepare a report on the environmental impact assessment for Chiang Mai Airport Development Project (2004), for the impacts of the environment to expand the length of the runway to the north to have the runway length of 3,400 m with improvement expansion of the terminal building and improvement expansion of aircraft parking bay on the south side. Rapid Exit Taxiway construction and improvement of taxiway and parking bay, construction of aviation fuel pipeline system, and improved the car park and expansion of runways and taxiways on the north side within the Air Force Zone by a distance of about 300 meters (including the length of the runway 3,400 m). The report said that the National Environment Board has given approval to the AOT to implement the measures to reduce environmental impacts prevention and correction measures and environmental quality monitoring during both construction and operation periods in 2006. AOT was able to undertake the construction of the Chiang Mai Airport development Project Plan in 2007 in the process of partial construction and completed construction of some parts. Therefore, in fiscal year 2007, it is still monitoring the compliance of measures both in construction and operation.
