Guidelines for Post Environmental Impact Assessment of Large Dams in Thailand

Narrative Description

    Large water resources development projects means Dam or Reservoir which has the storage capacity more than 100 million cu. m. the storage area more than 15 sq. km. and the irrigated areas more than 80,000 rai. The study areas include projects which establish before the announced in August 24, 1992 by the Ministry of Science and Technology about the definition for types and sizes of projects or activities of government / state enterprises / private must prepare the Environmental Impact Analysis report. There are 31 projects in Thailand most of them have not done the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) before the construction, such projects require environmental impact study after the operation. To determine the environmental impact both positive and negative can lead to set the measures for correct / reduce environmental impact and appropriate for the environment monitoring.
 

Services Description

     The study of the environmental impact study after the operation for large water resources development projects include as following:
• Data collection for large water resources development projects such as location, project description, forest conservation area which the project cover, year of the project construction, position of project, Environment problems in current operations and the owner agencies.
• Review of documents / information / environmental impact study report after the operation and exploration of natural resources whit the environment of project area.
• Synthetic data and Defined environmental issues which need to make the Environmental Impact Assessment after operation.
• Create the Environmental Impact Assessment report after operation and Proposed model Application.
• Study information of water quality in relevant water sources.
• Conference presentation and public relation for agencies about Guidelines for environmental impact studies for improvement.
